Missed Connections
I can’t believe I have used Craigslist for almost two years now and have never seen this section. I stumbled across it today while reading an article on Wonkette. I find it funny that this section exists in the first place. It’s kind of interesting to read what people think about those wondering around them in public places. It’s kind of like What Women Want without Mel Gibson, Helen Hunt and all the drama of being fried by a hair dryer. How weird is it that you get to read what someone was thinking about you when you each smiled at each other on the street while switching to a different bus or having your morning coffee. Of course, along with that goes the oddness of the situation.
I can sit here and say “how neat this is,” but would I really be thinking that if I found a posting on there geared towards me? Probably not! It would be flattering to think someone is interested in you, but the fact that they used this means of contacting you is kind of weird and creepy. Whatever happened to just talking to someone or asking for their number, even a smile and a simple “Hello” will suffice. Of course, I know that I’m not one to talk, being the shy person that I am (insert comments as needed Brian ;)), but I have talked to women on Metro before.
I know this post seems like it’s going nowhere, which it probably is, but I thought I would share a great section of Craigslist to peruse over rainy lunch breaks (unlike today with the mid 70° F temperatures outside).
